Patrick K. Skipton, DVM - Owner and President of Clinic
When
I was eight years old, I decided that I was going to become a
veterinarian. That was a decision I have never to this day regretted. I
enjoy being a veterinarian as much now as when I graduated from the
University of Florida Veterinary School in 1982. I grew up in the
Washington, DC area and attended the University of Maryland. Our family
has lived in Damascus since 1985. Through my three children, I have
been involved in local youth sports, 4-H, and community fairs. Besides
spending time with my family and my two dogs, I love sports and
gardening. Woodfield Veterinary Clinic allows me to do what I love,
practice veterinary medicine and help people.

Erin H. Spelman, DVM - Associate Veterinarian
For
as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a veterinarian. Most of
my growing up years were spent in Tennessee. I completed my
undergraduate studies at Berry College in Rome, Georgia. I then
attended the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary
Medicine and graduated in 2000. My husband Paul and I have twin boys,
Jeremy and Billy. Our two furry children are cats, Jacob and Marvin. I
enjoy seeing the variety of animals that come into our clinic. I
believe that each animal is unique and sometimes requires unique
solutions for their medical problems and care. While most of my
classmates are on their second and third practice, I have been at
Woodfield Veterinary Clinic since my graduation. That is entirely due
to the people I work with and for the family atmosphere that is present
here.
My hobbies are my boys and occasionally scrapbooking . |

Karen Bransom - Office Manager
Personal quote: "Kindness and compassion can make any day brighter" My
name is Karen Bransom. I am the office manager at Woodfield Veterinary
Clinic. I have been working for the clinic since 1990. My husband
George and I have lived in Damascus since 1975. We have four dogs, 3
English Setters and 1 Labrador Retriever. This is the latest in the
line of many household pets. I am very involved in my church’s Outreach
Ministry with mission trips to Mississippi to rebuild after Hurricane
Katrina. My hobbies include scrapbooking, taking pictures for those
scrapbooks, rubber stamping, and anything that involves my family. The
most enjoyable part of my job is observing the interaction between
people and their pets and the special bonding that takes place. The
most rewarding part is watching our volunteers and interns grow, learn
and become excited about the veterinary field. My most memorable times
working at this clinic are when grave situations can be turned around
into happy experiences through the team work of the doctors,
technicians and assistants. We are definitely a family.

Jackie Cromer - Veterinary Technician
Personal quote: "Don't worry, we'll take good care of your pet!" Hello,
my name is Jackie Cromer and I have been a Veterinary Technician at
Woodfield Veterinary Clinic since 2000. I have always had a love of
animals, large and small, furred, finned or feathered and have been
owned by at least one critter (usually more) my entire life. My family
consists of husband Dave, 4 daughters, 4 cats and 1 dog. I am
originally from upstate New York and have lived in Clarksburg since
1978. I enjoy photography, scrapbooking, rubber stamping, the great
outdoors and music “trivia” which can create some interesting contests
at work. I am also very active in my church. I view Woodfield
Veterinary Clinic as an extension of my family and am very proud of the
work we do and the services we offer. I enjoy assisting in surgery and
doing dentals. Educating and assisting a new pet owner is very
satisfying. I also train the interns and volunteers that work with us,
and have taken part in several career days at local schools. We
have a great staff and there is no place else I would rather work.

Judy Lumsden - Veterinary Technician

My name is Judy Lumsden and I have worked either full time or part time
for Woodfield Veterinary Clinic for over twenty years. For seventeen
years I worked full- time as the Coordinator for PAL (People. Animals.
Love), a non-profit organization, where volunteers take their pets to
visit sick children in the hospital and the elderly in nursing homes.
Not only did I coordinate volunteers and their pets, I also had the
pleasure of using many of my own pets for visiting. Besides my dogs, I
have made visits with a cat, a chicken, a goat, a guinea pig, a rabbit
and an umbrella cockatoo. This wide variety of pets creates fun and
interesting interaction and always brings smiles to all. I have taught
dog obedience classes for many years and do volunteer work for The
Animal Welfare League of Frederick fostering kittens. We raised our
family, one son and one daughter, in Clarksburg but have since moved to
a small farmette in Smithsburg. WE still have a household of pets,
including dogs, cats, birds, 2 rabbits, a guinea pig, and two miniature
donkeys. Obviously I think Woodfield Veterinary Clinic is a great place
to work since I have been here for so many years. It is wonderful to
work with people who really care about one another as well as the
clients and their pets. I also have a tremendous amount of respect for
the three veterinarians we work with.

Shondi Hogan - Veterinary Technician
My name is Shondi Hogan . I have lived in Damascus since 1994 with my husband and 2 boys.
My hobbies are gardening, tap dancing and yoga. When I am not working,
my 2 dogs keep me busy. I have a lab mix named Dixie and a golden mix
named Ozzie.
I have worked at Woodfield Veterinary Clinic since 2002, I am proud to
be a part of a welcoming family atmosphere. One of my favorite things
about working at the clinic is being in my own community. I feel it
makes people more comfortable to see someone they know when their pet
comes to the vet.
